Petite a’patite is a photography cooperative based in Taipei, Taiwan. Founded by Chen-Pang Chang and You-Jia Chen on 13 Feb 2026, a month after our trip to Paris France, the cooperative seeks to capture important and fleeting moments in the mundane and poetic ways.
Une petite apatite, meaning “little apatite stone” in French, is a little gem stone acquired during our stay in Paris. Later, we found out ‘apatite’ originally meant apátē — deceit, fraud, illusion in Greek. We liked the idea that illusion seems like a constant in our pursuit of truth. Inspired by this little stone, we borrowed its name for our cooperative and hope to remind ourselves, through our own creative potential, to seek the greater truth.

Chen-Pang Chang (b. 1997) was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He spent two years studying political philosophy in Reims, France, before returning to Taiwan in 2019. He worked as a journalist for a year and a half. His interest in photography started in early 2023. Since then, he travelled both around and outside Taiwan with his 35mm cameras and Rolleiflex.

You-Jia Chen (b. 1999) is a Taipei southerner. Trained in literature, she gradually developed a parallel interest in film and arts, and eventually began working in film festivals. In 2018, she started photographing after being introduced to a Ricoh camera by her elder brother. She tends to think in words first, then in images.
